Politeknik Negeri Semarang (Polines) continues to collaborate with various campuses abroad. This time the collaboration was established with the Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Architectural Technology (JSVIAT) of China. Marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between institutions by Ir. Supriyadi, MT (Polines Director) with Professor Sun Jin (JSVIAT Chairman) in the Director's Meeting Room, Polines Campus, Tembalang, Semarang, Wednesday (6/19). Also present at this event were the leaders of two institutions.
Director of Polines, Ir. Supriyadi, MT in his speech said that this collaboration was a commitment of Polines to establish cooperation with various higher education institutions abroad. "Various programs to improve the competitiveness of graduates and polytechnic performance have been designed in this collaboration," he said. Polines will begin to realize this cooperation with student and lecturer exchange programs, joint research, and credit transfer. Then the next stage is to plan a double / join degree program.
While Prof. Sun Jin (Chairman of JSVIAT) introduced the JSVIAT which is one of the best vocational higher education institutions in the city of Jiangsu and in China. "We have more than 50 study programs," he explained. Most of the majors are in the fields of architecture and civil engineering. In addition, it also has mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, communications, business, finance and hospitality majors. He added, JSVIAT was ranked first in all vocational education in China in terms of alumni satisfaction.
Prof. Wang Jing (Head of international office, JSVIAT) who also attended the visit also explained that since the last 2 years, JSVIAT has received many international students from Southeast Asian countries. "In addition, we also sends students to Southeast Asian countries," she said.
In the discussion on developing cooperation, the two institutions agreed to hold reciprocal lecturer and student exchanges. The first step of cooperation will begin with an exchange of students to take a sort course or join a summer camp which will be held by each institution.
Polines plans to invite students from JSVIAT to join the annual summer camp organized by Polines in August each year.
After the discussion, the delegation of JSVIAT had the opportunity to join the campus tour to see laboratories and classes in Polines. During the campus tour, JSVIAT delegation found many similarities in teaching and laboratory systems between Polines and JSVIAT.
